Under the high patronage of the Minister of Telecommunication Gebran Bassil and for the occasion of Ramadan, mtc touch, the leading mobile telecom operator in Lebanon, held its annual media iftar at Mandaloun sur Mer, Beirut. Other than the Lebanese media, the event brought together key figures of the telecom industry including Mr. Naji Andraous the Director General of construction and equipments at the ministry of telecom, Dr. Kamal Shehadeh the Head of the Telecom Regulatory Authority, Mr. Ziad Hayek, Secretary General of the Higher Council of Privatization, Mr. Gilbert Najjar Chairman Owner of Supervisory Board at the ministry of telecommunication, Mr. Alain Bassil representing Dr. Abdel Menhem Youssef the general manager of the Ogero committee as well as many ministry consultants, mtc touch general manager Mr. Claude Bassil and other high management members.
In her welcoming speech, mtc touch Corporate Communications and Relations Manager Ms. Ghada Barakat thanked both, minister Bassil and the media, for their presence. She said: “Ever since the company was established, we made it a tradition to meet with you during the month of Ramadan to celebrate the partnership established between the company and the media in Lebanon; we want you to know that we hold on to this event because it gives us the opportunity to thank you for your loyalty and involvement, as well as reaffirms our admiration towards your noble mission and influential role in society”.
From his end, Minister Gebran Bassil expressed his happiness to be amongst ministry’s representatives, the media and mtc touch members. He also congratulated the company for its performance and for its continuous collaboration, hoping to take this partnership further to serve the country’s best interest.
He added: “mtc touch has efficiently and quickly responded to the platinum numbers’ live auction idea; in fact, the company has managed to build the appropriate platform to host the auction in no time. We sincerely wish for this operation to succeed and become a benchmark for others to come. We also hope other companies and sectors will be able to show as much transparency as mtc touch and the telecom sector did”. The minister also recalled that the auction on 30 platinum numbers will be held on October the 3rd, stressing that the revenues will be invested in the development and maintenance of the mobile network under the slogan “for a better telecom”.
