GPRS Roaming and MMS International available through more than 30 mobile operators in more than 25 countries
After having launched for the first time in Lebanon in 2005 the high-end GPRS Roaming service, which allowed all “touch” postpaid lines subscribers to access the internet through their mobile handsets while in Jordan, mtc touch announced today the broadening of this service’s availability to include more than 30 mobile operators in at least 25 different countries.
This modern technology allows “touch” subscribers to check their e-mails, browse different websites and instantly communicate with other people through chatting websites. The GPRS Roaming is available by default to all “touch” subscribers as long as they are subscribed to the Roaming service, International Service and the local GPRS. It is also available for all Lebanon’s visitors using their roaming option through the mtc touch network.
Upon launching, mtc touch General Manager Mohammad Shabib said: “We seek to maintain our leading position in the telecommunication sector in Lebanon which drives us to multiply efforts in finding and implementing cutting-edge technologies thus facilitating the lives of our subscribers who always seek practical ways to save time”. Mr. Shabib added: “this initiative comes in line with mtc touch determination to fulfill its promise towards its “touch” subscribers in broadening the GPRS Roaming network to include several mobile operators in the Middle East, North Africa, the Gulf, Europe and America”.
The GPRS Roaming service is ideal for businessmen and frequent travelers as it keeps them connected around the clock to their workplaces and families, especially that mtc touch has roaming contracts with 226 operators in over 111 countries around the world.
mtc touch also announced the network broadening of the MMS International service (Multimedia Messaging Service) which allows prepaid “magic” and postpaid “touch” subscribers to stay in touch with their friends and relatives through sending and receiving text SMS, pictures and ring tones. MMS is now made available with more than 20 mobile operators in over 17 countries in the Middle East, North Africa, the Gulf, Europe, Australia and Asia”.
Mr. Shabib concluded: “The ultimate objective of every mobile operator is to provide the necessary services to maintain, through all possible and available means, continuous communication between people. Thus, the network broadening of both the GPRS Roaming and the MMS International services creates an international communication chain connecting Lebanon to the world”.
