Mobilk - As part of its commitment to community development, Ooredoo recently sponsored the newly established “Kaderoon” Forum, which took place under the patronage of HE Sheikh Khalid bin Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Services. The two-day forum aimed to provide opportunities for the training, rehabilitation, and employment of people with disabilities, by connecting them with educators, service providers, and employers.

“Caring is one of Ooredoo’s core values and this is reflected in our community-centred CSR mission. The cornerstone of this mission is the idea of family, and we believe in the value of every single member,” said Raed Mohammed Dawood, Director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo. “People with disabilities should be actively supported in the attainment of their aspirations for work and education. Through Kaderoon we are working together to overcome any existing barriers that prevent them from achieving their goals.”

Forum participants included government entities, public and private companies, banks, universities, public and private hospitals, charitable institutions and associations, as well as training and rehabilitation centres. Attendees were invited to learn more about the provision of appropriate professional training, the importance of social awareness, and the key roles of both the public and private sectors in the employment of people with disabilities.

The first-of-its-kind event highlighted the rights of people with disabilities to integrate as equal contributors to society, as well as demonstrating the social and economic benefits of their empowerment and accepting them as a valuable segment of the workforce. Part of the event’s proceeds were donated to the Omani Society for the Disabled and Al Noor Association for the Blind, both of whom Ooredoo has worked with extensively through its Goodwill Journey programme.

The sponsorship of the Kaderoon forum is part of Ooredoo’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which is involved with voluntary organisations, government, and non-government organisations in various social development initiatives across Oman.
