SyriaTel launches its health campaign in collaboration with Deir Al-Zor Health Directorate

Believing in the importance of raising health awareness within the community, and in view of making a success of the vaccination campaign, SyriaTel launched its health campaign in collaboration with Deir Al-Zor Health Directorate, by informing the citizens via SMS texts sent to all SyriaTel subscribers in Deir Al-Zor. An official source at the Primary Health Care Department in Deir Al-Zor declared that the first 5-day round has successfully come to an end, whereas health centers are still receiving those coming to complete their vaccination. The next stage will be launched as of 26/4/2009. After the great success of the campaign’s first stage, the Governor of Deir Al-Zor praised SyriaTel during a seminar on the hazards of smoking held at the cultural center of Deir Al-Zor, and thanked the company’s endeavor to encourage citizens to quit smoking and pursue children vaccination. He also confirmed Deir Al-Zor Health Directorate’s declaration that the awareness messages sent by SyriaTel helped to increase acceptance of children vaccination as well as health centers visits by five times.
It should be noted that BCG, polio, measles, Hepatitis B, DPT and Haemophilus vaccines were given to children during this campaign. Syriatel presents donations to the Red Crescent for the people of Gaza. Syriatel delivered the donations made by its subscribers through calling to 1200 to the Syrian Red Crescent. The company launched this campaign, in turn, as a belief in corporate national responsibility by standing by the Syrian community in its support and solidarity with the people of Gaza. Syriatel also collected donations from its employees through the campaign “together…we double the contribution” that was launched at the beginning of the Gaza war. The campaign raised the attention of all managers who rushed to stand by their brothers in Palestine and increased contribution by an amount equivalent to what was raised from the company’s employees. The company wishes to thank the contributors for their sense of national responsibility, especially its subscribers and staff for their active participation in this campaign, which reflected the reality of the relationship between the company management and its employees and stressed the importance of collective action.
