Umniah subscribers reach 1milion in 2 years

The subscriber base of Umniah, Jordan’s latest mobile operator and a subsidiary of Batelco Group, reached one million, the company announced on Sunday.

Umniah CEO Joseph Hanania said: “We have managed to vigorously shoulder our responsibilities which are centered on the satisfaction of our valued customers. We have changed mentalities, increased competition and continued to improve our services to satisfy our increasing clientele.”

He described this achievement as extraordinary, especially it was realised within two years at a time when competition is rapidly increasing in the Jordanian telecom market.

According to an Umniah press release, the company remains the only mobile operator to provide nationwide coverage for the EDGE service as well as enhanced and top-quality video streaming besides cutting-edge technology and high quality services.

The company has also developed the WiMAX technology, which allows internet users to access a high quality, and affordable Internet.

The WiMAX utilises 3.5GHz which is the best band for indoor Internet usage. It also operates for small, medium and large local groups in addition to the ultimate wireless Internet access it provides outdoors as it allows users to connect to the Internet from anywhere using the wireless feature available on computers.

“Umniah has creatively brought the power of technology to mobile handsets through its network, which is fully-ready for migration to 3G systems,” the press release said.

It added that major future plans carry lots of improvements and new services to meet Umniah’s current customers’ needs and attract more customers, emphasising Umniah’s status as the number 1 youth operator.

Since Umniah started its operations in Jordan in 2005, it has continued relentlessly to invest in its network, new technologies and customer service.

“Umniah wouldn’t have managed to attain the present status without its continuous investment in offering its ever-increasing youthful customers with a cluster of new technologies within the best standards of customer service,” Hanania added.
