Nawras celebrates valuable contribution by ladies on Omani Women’s Day

Mobilk - Nawras marked the third Omani Women’s Day with a colourful celebration at Muscat Grand Mall attended by Guest of Honour, the Honourable  Muna bint Mahfoudh Al Mantheriyah, Member of the State Council and the first Omani woman to broadcast for Oman TV. 

 

Thanking Nawras family members for their hospitality, the Honourable Muna Al Mantheriyah said, “I am truly grateful to be a part of this Nawras celebration for its female achievers. These women reflect the company’s pleasingly different values and vision and I would like to congratulate each and every one of them for setting a great example with their accomplishments.”

 

During the celebration, Nawras family members were shown a video highlighting the impact of Nawras women in the company as well as their contributions to family life and small businesses. Their success in the different areas of their lives reflected the multitude of opportunities available to women in Oman today.  

 

Celebrating the occasion, Nawras Director of People, Kumail Al Moosawi, said, “Omani Women’s Day recognises the important role women play in the Sultanate’s growth and development. This is not only in the workplace but in their roles within the family and the wider community. Nawras continues to provide opportunities for women’s empowerment in line with His Majesty’s vision to encourage greater participation in economic fields. At Nawras, we firmly believe that our people are the driving force of the company and advancing the role of women within the business and corporate world contributes to the progress of the organisation.”

 

The Honourable Muna Al Mantheriyah awarded 26 ‘Exceptional Nawras Women’ for their loyalty as well as their ability to balance work with family life and many other commitments, while at the same time holding senior positions within the company. 

 

The event also commended Oman’s first female 3G engineer, Dalia Al Hassani who recently won Al Mar’a Excellence Award for Technology and was named in CommsMEA’s Top 50 Female Telecoms Executives along with Amaal Al Lawati, head of billing and collection.  This was followed by a loud cheer for the Nawras Women’s Bowling Team and especially for Laila Al Harthy and Fatma Ali Said Al-Farsi who have recently been selected to play for the National team. 

 

As part of a long-term commitment to empowering women, Nawras runs the ‘Springboard’ programme in collaboration with the British Council. This course enables women to grow their potential within the company and community as it equips women with the confidence and skills to achieve their professional and personal goals. To date, there are more than 85 Nawras Springboard graduates.

 

Throughout the year, Nawras looks to advance the role of women within the company. Another example of this being achieved is the 11 family members who have graduated from the UK based Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) course. ILM qualifications in coaching and mentoring help to develop the knowledge and skills to keep Nawras at the cutting edge in terms of people as well as products and services.
