From the 22nd of December Qtel residential customers will no longer receive paper bills for their Post Paid services. As part of Qtel’s commitment to the environment it has now transferred all remaining paper bill customers onto the paperless option.
Through the elimination of paper billing, Qtel will reduce its use of paper considerably while also cutting back on other resources such as manpower and energy.
The switch to paperless billing is part of the Qtel Group’s ongoing environmental initiatives. In 2010 Qtel launched a successful e-waste recycling programme,
equipping Qtel stores across Qatar with recycling boxes allowing customers that wish to recycle their old phones the opportunity to do so. This has helped reduce the level of electronic waste in Qatar.
The Ebill service that was launched in early July this year is helping to create a greener future for Qatar in line with Qtel’s CSR initiative, “For Qatar, Hand in Hand.” Over 100,000 customers have already moved their accounts to Ebill, supporting this green initiative in a big way.
The Ebill service sends a secure PDF to customers email address and eliminates the need for a paper bill.
For customers wishing to sign up for Ebill they can:
Paper bills will still be available after 22 December, but customers will be charged a fee of QR5 per bill to continue receiving them. These funds will be re-invested into Qtel’s pioneering e-Waste Recycling programme, which offers a convenient disposal point for unwanted electronic goods in Qatar.
