Mobilk - Batelco Training Centre recently welcomed a group of 20 students from Hamad Town Intermediate and Secondary schools as part of the Company’s commitment to the inJAz youth development programme. Batelco is well known for its support of community initiatives, with particular emphasis on programmes that provide opportunities for the development of young people.
inJAz Bahrain, a member nation of the worldwide organization, Junior Achievement, was established to provide young people with a business and economic education so that they will have the knowledge, skills, tools and hands-on experience they need when seeking employment. It is a non-profit organization headed by Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al-Khalifa, whose mission is to ‘To Inspire and Prepare Young Bahrainis to Succeed in a Global Economy’. Batelco is a sponsor of inJAz and Batelco Bahrain CEO Rashid Abdulla is a board member of inJAz.
The students were introduced to the working environment at Batelco and given an overview of what Batelco does as a business. The visit also included a tour of the various departments of the company to give an insight of how all departments work alongside each other within the organisation to deliver on the Company’s strategies. Furthermore, the students had the opportunity to interact with Batelco staff and ask them questions related to work-readiness skills, such as negotiation, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
Programmes such as inJAz form part of Batelco’s Corporate Social Responsibility plans with the aim of reaching out to all sectors of the local community by supporting initiatives for health, education, sports and culture.
