Nawras Business links Ministry of Education and government schools in Oman with high speed internet

Mobilk - Nawras Business has successfully linked the Ministry of Education (MoE) with a fast internet connection to support every state school with quicker access, better web browsing, improved data connectivity and enhanced study support.  Teachers, students and parents visiting the main MoE educational portal are now able to enjoy this pleasingly different web experience since the new portal www.moe.gov.om went live on 28 May 2012.

The company’s new dedicated fibre-optic line at the Ministry of Education is another way for Nawras to enrich the lives of people in Oman through better communication services. Cost effective data services from Nawras Business provide the necessary requirements to support the high internet usage of large entities and corporations. An increasing number of Ministries and Government institutions are signing up with Nawras to experience the difference.

Hussain Al-Lawati, Nawras Chief Sales and Distribution Officer said, “The new fibre optic connection is able to cope with high levels of internet traffic.  It is ideal for those using high volumes of data in the public and private sector particularly where it is vital to be able to depend on a solid and stable high-speed internet connection backed up by award winning customer service. We are very happy to provide this important link for the Ministry of Education to the benefit of so many schools around the country.”

The new 80mbps connection used by the Ministry of Education is twice as fast as the previous connection, with the capability of supporting huge demand for access to the main Oman Education Portal. The site experiences high traffic as it is accessed daily by stakeholders of all government schools including teachers and students, who upload and download documents such as learning materials, timetables and student records.  Parents also use this tool to view their children’s performance.

In addition, over 140 state owned schools across the Sultanate will be using the pleasingly different Nawras Internet Professional (NIP) service delivered via WiMAX technology.

Sulaiman Al Kindi, Deputy General Director Of Information Technology at Ministry of Education, said, “This project is very important to us as it provides a reliable, fast internet link for parents, teachers and students to access the educational information they need. Despite the complexity and size of this project, we have been impressed by the help that the Nawras team has given every step of the way.  They have understood our concerns and taken on the responsibility to deliver on time and within budget.  Their caring and dedicated approach gave us confidence from the very first day.”

“Having this high speed internet connection from Nawras makes it so much easier to download the files we need and this is already saving us time and increasing efficiency levels,” said Unis Al-Busaidi, Network Engineer at Ministry of Education.

The new connection will meet the demands of Ministry of Education portal visitors and will be the primary connection. Nawras fibre technology is supported by the pleasingly different services provided by dedicated sales and after sales teams from Oman’s customer friendly communications provider.
