Mobinil, Egypts leading mobile operator, and Nokia Siemens Networks in Egypt celebrated the first anniversary of their successful partnership, for the launch of Mobinils new state-of-the-art 3G network, which provides Egyptians with high quality voice and high-data transfer speeds.
The milestone was celebrated on 29 June 2009, in an event that was held to celebrate the successful completion of the 3G network. The gathering was attended by the Chairman of Orascom Telecom Holding Mr. Naguib Sawiris, Mobinil Chairman Mr. Iskander Shalaby, Mobinil CEO Mr. Hassan Kabbani, Chairman of Nokia Siemens Networks in Egypt .Dr. Ali El Samman, Country Director of Nokia Siemens Networks in Egypt Mr. Khaled Rabie, as well as several members of the top management in both companies.
Mobinil CEO Mr. Hassan Kabbani stated, "I greatly thank the Mobinil & NSN teams that have worked on our joint project for their dedication and support, which are no doubt the true driving force behind the success of our collaboration. It is through Mobinils selection of prominent and leading industry names like NSN that it has managed to maintain and develop a state-of-the-art network, which caters to the telecommunication needs of its over 22 million subscribers".
Mr. Kabbani also emphasized that, "Country Director of Nokia Siemens Networks in Egypt Mr. Khaled Rabie stated, "Our collaboration with Mobinil takes us closer to our vision to connect 5 billion people by 2015. Our insights, along with Mobinils understanding of Egyptians needs, preferences and convenience, will play a major role as we continue to work closely with Mobinil." Mobinils network is now fully capable of providing future generation value-added services, including mobile broadband applications and high speed internet".
In 2008 Mobinil and NSN in Egypt signed a contract to provide Mobinil with 3G network services in Egypt in addition to other core switching and data network components.NSN is supplying such services to Mobinil only in the Egyptian market.
