Mobilk - Committed to advancing education in the Sultanate, Ooredoo has joined hands with the Ministry of Education (MOE) to launch an e-learning platform for the academic year 2020-20201. This public-private sector initiative will address the challenges presented by COVID-19, ensuring that education is not disrupted moving forward. Linked to Oman’s Educational Portal, the platform will create virtual classrooms for students to learn from distance across the country as well as enable discussion forums for teachers and administrators to share best practices and monitor growth and development in line with international indexes.
The platform will include the latest educational features and tools such as an e-library. User friendly and efficient, it will also ensure students interact easily with teachers, enjoy access to learning material, have their questions and queries answered, all the while keeping track of their progress.
Ian Dench, CEO of Ooredoo said, “We’re very pleased to be signing this agreement with the Ministry of Education, as part of our CSR activities for Oman. Whilst available for some time, e-learning has come to the forefront of requirements in a post COVID-19 society. We have a role to play in Oman’s digital transformation and we hope this new and exciting platform will help students reach their full potential in their educational journey.”
Dr. Nasser Al Abri, Director General of Information Technology at MOE said, “We’d like thank Ooredoo for their continuous support of Oman’s e-learning strategy, especially during this pandemic. The technology provided by Ooredoo will allow us to set up the portal and ensure that students can adjust to a new way of learning. This partnership is a true example of how we can all come together in the fight against COVID, supporting the development and continuity of education.”
What’s even more, the e-learning platform will be accessible on mobiles and tablets through a dedicated App. It will also enable for additional material to be uploaded to aid distant learning as well as generate reports pertaining to the services available. Making it interactive, teachers will be able to host seminars, present projects and exchange ideas and perspectives that are beneficial to students
