TRA Child Online Protection Challenge a great success

Mobilk - Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Bahrain’s Child Online Protection Challenge in collaboration with the International Telecommunications Union, ITU- Regional Cyber Security Center and General Organization for Youth & Sports held on Thursday the 20th of November in honor of Universal Children’s Day as a success.

The event, which was led by TRA Bahrain’s Cyber Security Directorate, was organized with the purpose of raising awareness of online safety issues to children in order to better equip them with how to use the internet responsibly. The challenge itinerary covered various team building games such as a treasure hunt and charades where the clues were lessons on how to stay safe offline. Also part of the itenirary was an art exhibition and theatrical act following the same themes.

Director of TRA Bahrain’s Cyber Security Directorate, Dr. Khalid bin Duaij Al Khalifa was quoted in stating “ We would like to thank everyone who was involved in making the Child Online Protection Challenge a success. The important thing we want to leave with is having the children who attended take note of the lessons taught here today. We hope for them to use the internet as responsible digital citizens in the online community, that they interact with others online respectfully and use the internet safely; reporting any suspicious behavior they encounter and to be cautious with their private information.” 

Cyber Security Specialist and manager of the COP Challenge event, Ms Mariam Al Mannai also added to the statement that “We are happy with the outcome of the Child Online Protection Challenge, The reception from all attendees was very positive, and we were glad to see the level of participation among the children especially. This event was for them, and we hope that we contributed to their learning the essentials of online safety and they enjoyed themselves.”
