Mobilk - Ooredoo has won Gold for Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year – in the Middle East and Africa from the 2021 International Business Awards, also known as the Stevies. The award specifically recognises its Sensory Rooms initiative, which, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, facilitated the building of specially-equipped rooms at social welfare centres across the Sultanate. Falling under Ooredoo’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, ‘Goodwill,’ a total of seven sensory rooms have already been created, with more planned in the near future.
Raed Mohamad Dawood, Director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo, said, “Our Goodwill programme has been going strong for 16 years now and is a proud testament of our efforts to offer so much more than just telecoms services, but to truly enrich the lives of our community. We are delighted to have received such recognition for our Sensory Rooms initiative, which, run by our Ooredoo family volunteers, we continued to carry out even during the pandemic. Up until now have provided more than 2,500 children with a valuable therapeutic space that is designed to meet their unique needs.”
The Stevie Awards are widely considered to be the world’s premier business awards and this year alone received more than 3,700 nominations from 63 nations. Ooredoo has been recognised with a number of Stevie Awards in past years, including the 2020 International Business Award’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year - in the Middle East and Africa for its Goodwill programme.
