Mobilk - The second half of Huawei’s 2017 internship will culminate in December, with two 12-week batches of Bahraini undergraduates receiving valuable ICT training and other vocational skill sets. The program is part of Huawei’s continuing effort to assist the Kingdom in its pursuit of the goals laid out in the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
“As an active and committed member of the local community, we are pleased to continue the Huawei Internship Program, which aims to cultivate Bahraini undergraduates with on-the-job training that enables them to play an active role in the Kingdom’s digital transformation,” said Huawei Bahrain’s CEO, Feng Nan Paul. As a leading global ICT solutions provider, Huawei firmly believes in human capital and the importance of equipping the next generation with the necessary training and skills to become future leaders.
Students from the University of Bahrain, Bahrain Polytechnic and Ahlia University took part in the second batch of the 2017 Huawei Internship Program. Students engaged in the on-job training under the supervision of Huawei professional mentors, where they were trained in areas such as marketing, procurement, logistics as well as various ICT-heavy domains including managed services, web applications and IT. They are assigned with the tasks that entail rational probing, independent initiative, advanced research skills, analytical skills, application development and others. The engaging and stimulating learning environment allowed them to adopt the practical skillsets for their future career and to be more competitive in the local market. Huawei Internship program helps to bridge the gap between what is learned from school and what is practiced and required in the workplace.
“Huawei Internship programme offers our students a unique opportunity to gain deep knowledge on advanced technology solutions that are being used in various industries and sectors. This programme not only provides students with real-world experience in their field but also develops theirs skills such as ability to work in a team, oral and written communication skills and problem solving and critical thinking skills. Huawei has been increasing the number of internships to offer more opportunities for our students, which is a commendable step. This would create more industry- ready graduates and help bridge the gap between what is taught in text books and work done in industry.” said Mazen Mohamed Ali, Head of Department of Information Systems, College of Information technology, University of Bahrain.
Students enrolled in the 2017 program have hailed it as a valuable experience. Deena Al Saweer, a Bachelor of International Logistics student in Bahrain Polytechnic, said, “Through the internship program, I have learnt the technical aspect of projects and the complexities of managing them. This internship allowed me to experience the theories I learned in class in real life scenarios. Being a part of this organization helped me as a student to see how a professional supply chain environment operates as well as the challenges involved. I encourage students to take this opportunity and learn from a reputable company’s working environment.”
