Mobilk - With continued investments being made in ICT infrastructure across Saudi Arabia, Huawei—a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider—and the Technical and Vocation Training Corporation (TVTC)—an organization overseeing all vocational and technical training programs within the Kingdom—have celebrated the conclusion of an international knowledge-transfer program held for 20 teachers from TVTC.
The graduation ceremony comes as part of the long-term strategic partnership between TVTC and Huawei to empower young Saudi students looking to pursue a career in the region’s growing IT sector.
The two-week program was hosted by Huawei at its global headquarters in Shenzhen, China, where a diversity of Huawei professors and research experts worked in hand with the TVTC teachers to explore the latest innovations in telecommunication, IT, and unified communication technologies. As part of the company’s commitment to CSR and supporting the government’s efforts towards Saudization in the technology sector, Huawei covered all costs for the training program for all of the teachers involved.
A ceremony marking the conclusion of the program was held in Shenzhen in the presence of Mr. Fahad Al Tuwaijry, TVTC Deputy Governor, Mr. Yahya Bin Abdul-Kareem Al-Zaid, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to China, as well as numerous high-level Huawei executives and the 20 participating teachers from TVTC.
“This latest educational exchange program between TVTC and Huawei further reinforces the widening cultural and economic relationship between Saudi Arabia and China; a cherished relationship that continues to create great value for the populations of both nations,” says Mr. Yahya Bin Abdul-Kareem Al-Zaid, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to China.
“Developing global education initiatives in partnership with leading companies like Huawei has been a key focus for TVTC as we look to ultimately offer students in Saudi Arabia access to the very best global tools and resources to advance their future careers,” comments Mr. Fahad Al Tuwaijry, TVTC Deputy Governor.
“As the Kingdom moves closer to developing a true knowledge-based economy, Huawei is dedicated to strengthening local knowledge-transfer programs with our partners across KSA, supporting institutions like TVTC to equip aspiring professionals with the right skills to build successful careers,” adds Mr. Zhangpeng, Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications at Huawei.
In recent years Saudi Arabia has undertaken a rapid development of its ICT industry including the construction of high-speed mobile broadband networks, numerous e-Government service projects, as well as several Smart City initiatives being planned across the Kingdom. At the same time, such rapid advancements have also led to a significant increase in the requirement for highly-trained ICT technicians and engineers to lead the industry forward.
Earlier this year, TVTC and Huawei teamed up on an IT cloud training program for Saudi graduates under a renewable five-year agreement signed at the College of Technology and Information (CTI). There are now 200 applicants under evaluation for the first year contract with Huawei aiming to employ 100 graduates from the training every year.
For its part Huawei has worked closely with renowned public and private sector entities in Saudi Arabia for more than a decade, both as a key driver of ICT innovation and as an employer of local talent within the private sector. This has included partnerships with leading Saudi universities as well as setting up a dedicated Huawei Training and Research Center in Riyadh in 2006 coordinated through the global Huawei University.
Within the Kingdom, Huawei remains a partner of choice for many leading telecom operators as well as government and enterprise customers working to build a better connected world.
