Mobilk - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, recently played host to over 150 esteemed guests including UAE government officials as well as telecom and enterprise customers during the company’s 2012 annual Broadband tour spotlighting the latest end-to-end solutions set to transform the region’s telecommunications landscape.
The UAE road show, which began in Abu Dhabi on February 19th and concluded in Dubai on March 15th, marked the first time that Huawei’s broadband exhibition was actually brought to the doorstep of its customers across the country. Held under the banner of “Smarter Network, Better Life”, a combined team of Huawei business directors and technical specialists presented live demonstrations of how broadband is being leveraged through the company’s newest smart devices, enterprise management solutions, as well as 4G network technologies such as HSPA+ and LTE TDD.
With consumers and businesses demanding always-on ICT service, the number of broadband lines in the MENA region is anticipated to reach more than 150 million by 2015. Industry leaders have projected the UAE’s broadband penetration level to reach 100% by 2012, with broadband widely regarded as a key indicator of national competitiveness and economic development. The Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) confirmed in its latest Evolution to LTE Report that the UAE is ahead of the global curve in implementing next-generation broadband networks.
“By continuing to take bold steps to invest in broadband infrastructure, the UAE has positioned itself as not just a regional ICT leader but a global forerunner in accelerating national connectivity,” noted Mr. Lv Jun, General Manager of Huawei UAE. “Working together with our partners, Huawei is committed to sharing the benefits of broadband technologies that can ultimately bring down operator costs while providing a better communication experience to businesses and individuals throughout the country.”
As the number of mobile broadband users in particular continues to climb, Huawei believes that subscribers will increasingly look for low tariffs with unlimited high-speed access, while operators will require network capabilities that allow them to accommodate the expansion pressures for mobile access.
Huawei’s on-site demonstrations offered UAE visitors the chance to experience new Huawei innovations for wireless including HSPA+, LTE TDD, Wimax and SingleRAN technologies. Huawei also presented case studies of how it’s Single Backbone, SingleFAN & Single Metro solutions can be optimized to address the needs of operators across the region as traffic is increasingly dominated by services such as IPTV, HDTV and teleconferencing.
On the devices front, several of the company’s latest releases were on display including the world’s slimmest smartphone (the Ascend P1 S), the world’s first 10 inch quad-core tablet (the MediaPad 10 FHD) and the world’s smallest data card (E369). In assisting operators to reduce network costs and increase ARPU (Annual Revenue Per User), the Huawei team further revealed updates to the company’s end-to-end cloud computing solutions including cloud data-center solutions and cloud-based applications such as VDI and BSS.
As part of its broadband strategy, Huawei has become the world’s largest contributor to LTE standards and patents; a pivotal move in the company gaining the lead in global LTE commercialization as the top ranked brand worldwide with more than 50% market share.
The Huawei broadband tour will be continuing its journey across the MENA region over the coming four months including dedicated exhibitions in countries such as Qatar and Oman.
