TRA’s General Director Receives HE the Ambassador of the Russian Federation

The General Director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Mr. Mohamed Hamad Bubashait met recently at TRA’s offices with HE Mr. Victor Smirnov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Bahrain, to discuss the outcome of the visit of HH Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of the King of Bahrain, to Moscow last month.

 

The meeting focused on the ways of exchanging knowledge and information with respect to the development of the telecommunications sector and maximising investment opportunities between both countries. Mr. Bubashait said that “Both the Ambassador and TRA agree that the liberalization of the telecommunications market is a vital enabler for economic growth for any country and practically contributes to the creation of a global information society.” They further discussed the importance of diverse and reliable telecommunications services, which are required to attract foreign investors.

 

H.E. Ambassador Smirnov praised Bahrain for its healthy regulatory environment where the establishment of TRA has contributed to competitive choices of attractive telecommunications services being offered to both residential and business customers.
