  • Huawei Demonstrates the Power of a Knowledge Economy with Smart Education in KSA

Mobilk - With the advent of a knowledge economy developing in Saudi Arabia, Huawei—a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider—and Information Data Corporation (IDC) connected with CIOs and education leaders to demonstrate how the right smart E-education technology  can help institutions improve the standards of education.

Being held at the Four Seasons in Riyadh, the IDC Smart Education Summit will address how the emergence of BYOD, connected learning, cloud services, software defined networking and big data analytics has the ability to revolutionize education and make learning more interactive for Saudi students.

As the country moves closer to developing a true knowledge-based economy, the Smart Education Summit follows a recent IDC report, which announced that ICT spending in the KSA Education sector is set to increase between 2013 and 2018 with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.2 percent.

Jyoti Lalchandani, Group Vice President & Regional MD, IDC MEA said: “In the past decade, rapid development of higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has included the wholesale embrace of Information Technology (IT) systems. Advances in the greater pervasiveness of ICT are already driving a shift in what, how, when and where the learning is delivered. There is an ongoing need for innovative, accessible, effective, and efficient higher education systems that tap into the best that ICTs have to offer.”

Strengthening its commitment to developing the education sector in KSA, Huawei will identify how it can help education institutions empower the youth by equipping them with the right knowledge and skills to help them grow professionally.

Huawei will address how technology vendors can make a measureable impact to the availability and quality of education through the implementation of borderless classrooms and e-learning tools. According to Huawei the most important step that institutions need to make is to ensure that there is a solid infrastructure that can support the modernization of learning platforms and technologies.

“The incorporation of technology has completely revolutionized the way the students learn and continues to push the boundaries within the education industry,” said Tony Shi, General Manager, Enterprise Business, Huawei KSA. “In order to facilitate the adoption of e-learning technologies, institutions need to ensure the foundation of any smart environment. With Huawei’s Virtual Desktop Infrastructures, Agile Campus solutions and e-classroom technologies, educators can change the way that classes are being taught to offer a more flexible and creative learning environment.”

Educators interested in the latest e-education technology can view Huawei’s portfolio of smart educations solutions at the event. The ICT provider will also be providing demos of its Cloud Fusion Cube, e-classroom and Agile Campus solutions – which have proven effective at bolstering connectivity, performance and capacity between departments and campuses within education institutions across the region.

Huawei has worked closely with renowned public and private sector entities in Saudi Arabia for more than a decade, both as a key driver of ICT innovation and as a significant employer of local talent within the private sector.  This has included partnerships with leading Saudi universities as well as setting up a dedicated Huawei Training and Research Center in Riyadh in 2006, which currently offers aspiring professionals a broad range of management and technical programs coordinated through the global Huawei University.

Huawei recently also announced a strategic partnership with Technical and Vocation Training Corporation (TVTC) that saw both collaborate on a variety of academic programs aimed at providing students in Saudi Arabia with access to the world-class labs, experts and work experience opportunities in the technology field. This included Huawei’s Cloud FusionAccess solution, a Cloud Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) system, offering greater educational resources for students and training instructors.
