Etisalat today signed a strategic partnership agreement with Korea Telecom, a prominent South Korean integrated telecommunication service provider, to jointly develop innovative new age telecommunications solutions and collaborative services for customers. The partnership agreement was signed by Mr. Essa Al Haddad, Group Chief Marketing Officer at Etisalat and Mr. Hansuk Kim, Head of Global Business Unit, Korea Telecom.
As per the strategic agreement, Etisalat and Korea Telecom will establish respective administrative office to supervise and execute the key milestones of the MoU by sharing skill-set, intellectual capital and industry expertise, towards developing cutting edge products and services. This collaboration will focus on creating innovative solutions for Global roaming on Wi-fi (IPLC, MPLS-VPN, Satellite), Machine to Machine telecommunication (M2M), IPTV and Managed Services, thereby, significantly benefiting domestic as well as international business customers of both the telecom conglomerates.
Both Etisalat and Korea Telecom will also work towards creating distinct Points of Presence (PoPs) in South Korea and UAE respectively, eventually providing direct links, reliable and faster service to their customers in these countries.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Essa Al Haddad, Group Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat said, “Etisalat is delighted to partner with Korea Telcom in our unswerving commitment to develop new age ICT solutions and provide enhanced value centric services to our customers. This partnership brings together two of the world’s leading telecommunication services providers who will strategically align their infrastructural and intellectual capabilities, to provide cutting edge solutions to businesses in their respective countries.”
“In addition to providing avant-garde services for our customers, this partnership will also consolidate Etisalat’s position as the region’s most forward-looking telecommunications and ICT service provider, as we continue to lead innovative developments in the ICT industry and seek to shape the technology and communications market of the future,” Al Haddad added.
This partnership will further add a new dimension to the recently formed nuclear relationship between UAE and South Korea and further strengthen the current economic ties between the two countries. The UAE in December awarded a $20 billion deal to a South Korean group to build four nuclear reactors in the country. The telecom partnership will benefit Korea Telecom customers travelling to UAE, for accomplishing this project besides several other Korean businesses, who seek to engage, expand and collaborate with enterprises in the UAE.
