Batelco, the Kingdom's leading Telecommunications Company, is proud that 25% of their workforce are ladies and that a high proportion of them hold executive roles, leading various critical and complex functions.
'Batelco provides equal opportunities for its entire staff and makes available world-class training opportunities by investing over a million dinars annually to ensure that relevant development programmes are available,' said Batelco Group General Manager Human Resources Shaikh Ahmed Al Khalifa.
"We know that the qualities and skills of our people have a direct impact on the quality of our service. Accordingly, we are committed to empowering and enabling our employees to excel, building on their knowledge base for their own personal growth and the good of the Company," he added.
As part of this development strategy, Batelco is delighted to announce the promotion of Sawsan Noor from the Company's Enterprise Division to the post of Head of Government Segment, one of the company’s largest segments, which serves a significant number of Batelco’s customers.
Sawsan, who has served as Head of Major Accounts and International Business since 2008, has held a number of prominent roles throughout her working career and holds an MBA from the University of Glamorgan in UK.
"We believe Sawsan has the leadership potential and communication skills required to fill such an influential role," said her General Manager Dr. Abdulla Al Thawadi.
"Furthermore, Sawsan is the first lady in the history of Batelco to be appointed to this position which is a great achievement and supports Batelco's commitment to provide opportunities for all staff, male and female," he added.
This recent appointment is part of a series of changes in the Enterprise Division. This move is a direct result of a strategy to develop and build Bahraini competencies to assume leadership positions, through the empowerment of staff within the Department and Company in general.
"We are immensely proud that we have a wealth of talented female executives in our company, and that the number of them in senior roles continues to rise. A significant number of female employees are currently being groomed to become Batelco’s future leaders across the company," concluded Shaikh Ahmed.
