Batelco’s Diamond Sponsorship Supports Autism Awareness Exhibition

Batelco was presented with an award at the World Autism Awareness Month event in appreciation of the Company’s Diamond sponsorship. The 4 day Understanding Autism awareness exhibition which took place at Bahrain City Centre was held under the patronage of InJaz executive director Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa and organised by Wish Child Welfare, which is part of the Bahrain society for Women’s Development.

Understanding Autism provided information about the sensory world of autism through sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. The exhibition highlighted the problems faced by autistic children and outlined how best to communicate with such children in order to understand them better.

Shaikha Hessa presented the appreciation award to Batelco GM Product Development and Strategy Hamza Ali during his visit to the event. On the same occasion, Mr. Ali presented the Diamond Sponsorship cheque to Wish Child Welfare executive director Shaikha Hala Ali Al Khalifa.

Shaikha Hala explained that the event was the first of its kind in the Middle East and that all the proceeds would go to Sitra based Alia Centre for Early Intervention, which is part of the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioural and Communication Difficulties.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to Batelco and all our sponsors for their invaluable support which allows us to highlight many issues experienced by autistic children and their families,” she said.
