Qtel today announced that it has fixed a server issue that caused some disruption to BlackBerry services over the weekend and apologised for any inconvenience customers may have encountered.
The error, which occurred on the international network that carries traffic between Qtel and RIM, the international provider of BlackBerry services, was detected at 22:25 PM on Saturday, 3 April.
Working with the RIM support service, along with network administrators and leading technical advisors, the Qtel team were able to identify the source of the problem and begin implementing a solution. During this period, some customers experienced a problem with messaging and roaming services.
A secondary problem was encountered during the process to fix the problem on the international link, which necessitated migrating some of the lines used to carry BlackBerry data. This in turn caused additional disruption.
Full service has now been restored, and customers can continue to use the service without interruption or access issues.
