With the advent of the holy month of ramadan and the start of the school year 2008-2009, mtc touch, the leading telecom company in lebanon and Zain affiliate, has launched a wide social endorsement campaign targeting eight lebanese community associations. The initiative consists of distributing school bags and stationary to 4,000 underprivileged children in Beirut, the south, the north and the Bekaa valley.
Ms. Ghada Barakat, Corporate Communications and Relations Manager at mtc touch, commented on the initiative. She said: “During the past years, mtc touch sponsored several Iftars organized by social associations during the holy month of ramadan, which came to confirm the company’s commitment to its social responsibility in the lebanese society. This year, we thought about doing something different and when we realised that school year starts with the advent of Ramadan, that triggered the idea of ensuring school bags and stationnary to four thousand needy children, which would perfectly meet our objective and allow students to have a fresh and joyful beginning”.
Barakat added: “The holy month of Ramadan reinforces social bonds as it makes people think more about each other and less about themselves. Ramadan reminds us all that we belong to one big united family, one whose members stand by each other at all times. This new mtc touch initiative aims, like all other socially responsible activities, at strenghtening the company’s relation with the other members of the lebanese family within a spirit of fraternity and harmony”.
