Nawras is delighted to be the first operator in the Sultanate to launch the Huawei E180 USB internet modem, the smallest and most capable internet modem in the market today. The Huawei E180 is being introduced at the same time as Nawras celebrates the first anniversary of its 3G+ network and follows on from the success of the Huawei E220, which Nawras has been selling for the last year and a half.
At the GSMA’s Asia Mobile Awards 2008, the Huawei E180 won best mobile broadband device, being described as the ‘avant-courier that brings the unexpected broadband power for a cool and full online experience’.
Customers might imagine that the small size of this device means it has limitations but this could not be further from the truth. Its impressive qualities start with the sleek design and include the unique feature of the E180 packing 2GB of memory for data storage, allowing files to be accessed wherever and whenever the modem is used.
The dual-purpose E180 is available today from any Nawras Store for just RO79 including a free welcome pack. Used with either a laptop or desktop by a single user, the simple plug and play operation means that no installation CD is needed; there are no complicated set up procedures or time-consuming installation steps to work through. The modem simply and quickly installs itself when first plugged in allowing customers to access the internet within minutes. The modem and data storage works with both Windows and Apple operating systems.
The new modem makes it faster to upload data when sending files, songs or heavy attachments as the E180 features 3G+ which provides download speeds of up to 6.5 Mbps in the Nawras 3G+ network. The modem also supports EDGE which can be used in areas where 3G+ is not yet available. E180 is a highly compact device supporting the complete range of HSPA/HSDPA and GSM/GPRS/EDGE network technologies.
With its MicroSD card slot, E180 can be used as a flash memory, relieving users of the need to carry additional gadgets for storage. Customers can carry up to 2GB of stored data (upgradable to 8GB) with the USB slot occupied by the modem, doubling up as a storage device. The sleek modem features a rotating system so customers can adjust the angle to suit their preferred working style for comfort and optimum network reception.
The E180 can be used with the Nawras Silver Plan and Gold plan as well as other data price plans for Nawras Ajel (postpaid). It can also be used by Nawras Mousbak (prepaid) customers using the pay-as-you-go price plan or when subscribing to Nawras 48hr Unlimited Internet for only RO3. With the newly developed E180 software, Nawras Mousbak customers can use it to check their balance or recharge too.
Customers can send and receive SMS from their computer while using the modem and for any questions there is always support with the accompanying literature in either Arabic or English. Additional information can be found by visiting the Nawras website at www.nawras.om sending an email to nbs@nawras.om or calling a friendly, professional Customer Champion on 1500.
The E180 is the latest and most stylish modem for internet connection. All Nawras customers can use this device whether they are already enjoying fast Broadband Internet within the ever-expanding Nawras 3G+ network coverage or currently receiving high quality EDGE network coverage in other areas.
