New Award For Nawras

Nawras, the Middle East Mobile Operator of the Year, is thrilled to be celebrating receiving its first global award entitled ‘Above And Beyond The Call Of Duty’, in recognition of the high standard of efficiency operated by Nawras with its customer-friendly billing systems. The announcement was made at the World BSS Awards ceremony staged during the recent Billing & Information Management Systems (BIMS) conference in Amsterdam.

Presented as the Judges’ Award, this accolade was won despite formidable competition being presented by the runner up kajeet/Telcordia and the other two finalists who completed the impressive line-up, namely SFR/Capgemini and Virgin Media/TMNG Global.

Collecting the award in Amsterdam, Nawras Revenue Assurance Manager, Chris Messenger, expressed his great delight: “Our back office teams are thrilled to be recognised in this way. The award is a reflection of Nawras’ commitment to strive for excellence in serving our customers across the entire organisation.”

Receiving the news of the award in Oman, Nawras CEO Ross Cormack explained how important it is, by saying: “This is the first global award for Nawras and to have been considered in the finals amongst such esteemed names in the mobile telecoms industry was fantastic. To be voted as the outright winner is a huge honour and delight for everyone at Nawras. These awards are widely regarded as the highest industry recognition of BSS excellence, underlining once again how Nawras customers get more from every aspect of their mobile experience.”

Khalid Al-Mahmoud, Nawras Chief Operating Officer, echoed these sentiments: “Our business facing teams are just as focused as everyone else at Nawras on truly living the customer experience, even though they may not be directly interacting with customers on a regular basis. The World BSS Awards help raise awareness of the significance of billing and information management systems and processes to the communications industry, identifying key trends and rewarding BSS best practice. Launched in 1997, this was the 12th year that these important awards were presented.

Hugh Roberts, Chairman of the judging panel and Consultant Director for IIR’s BSS, OSS and RM Events, said, “We introduced the ‘Judges Award’ last year to allow us to acknowledge endeavour that might otherwise go unrecognised. In all high growth markets there are always going to be difficulties in prioritising business needs: in particular, conflicts can arise between achieving high customer growth, delivering world class customer care, and maintaining accurate and efficient operational and back office systems. Rationalising these conflicts effectively requires a combination of strategic vision from the senior executive team and perseverance and proactivity from all levels of the organisation. As recent press has shown from around the world, without good Revenue Assurance the margins and profitability of telecoms operators and service providers can be severely compromised. In the view of the Judges, Nawras thoroughly deserves the recognition I hope that winning this Award will bring.”

In the last year Nawras has been awarded Middle East Mobile Operator of the Year by CommsMEA as well as receiving the Middle East Business Achievement Award for Corporate Social Responsibility from the Leaders conference in Dubai. The company also won the Golden Award for Best Strategic ICT Portal at the Pan Arab Web Awards.

Nawras currently covers 96% of the population with its reliable world-class network, using national roaming where necessary and always with Nawras great value.
