TRA Hosts a Workshop on Implementing the Business Continuity Management Program in Emergencies

Active participation of representatives of concerned government entities and telecom operators

Mobilk - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has hosted today a workshop on Implementing the Business Continuity Management Program in Emergencies, for the purpose of ensuring the business continuity in ICT sector in situations of emergency and crisis. The workshop witnessed great attendance of ICT sector operators, in addition to nominees from the local emergency and crisis response centers in each Emirate.

The workshop agenda included many important topics, such as providing a comprehensive and detailed overview on the business continuity management standard "NCEMA 7000" (AE/SCNS/NCEMA 7000:2015), in addition to the ISO specifications 22301 accredited in this field. The workshop also included a review of the implementation methodology of the Business Continuity Management Program, followed by a practical training on implementing this method in the institutions.

In this context, H.E Engineer Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Acting Director General of TRA, said: Various sectors in the country, including the telecom sector, is witnessing accelerated growth rates, associated with increased dependence on technology and smart services. This requires preparation and constant readiness in terms of having comprehensive plans to respond to crises and emergencies effectively and efficiently to ensure business continuity and maintain the highest degree of efficiency in implementation. It is a part of the vision of the wise leadership aiming to enhance the competitive position of the country, through accelerating achievement rates and enhancing the international business community confidence which considers the UAE as an attraction for investments from around the globe.

Collaboration and coordination with the participating entities representatives constitute the foundation for the success of this type of initiatives. It is a clear indication of everyones willingness to take all preventive measures and practice them to ensure the highest degree of readiness to respond to emergencies. The discussed topics and the participants interaction reflected a high degree of awareness and understanding to the latest strategies and plans adopted in this field on a global level" Al Mesmar added

Todays workshop constitutes an addition to a series of efforts launched by TRA in this matter. Among these efforts is hosting the closing forum of the ICT business continuity last September with approving a set of recommendations that would enhance the countrys competitiveness in the field of ICT business continuity, as well as enhancing the sustainability concept in the sector, to ensure business continuity and contribute to spreading awareness among individuals.
