Mobilk - A delegation from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain have visited today the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) for the purpose of holding a series of meetings on the preparation mechanisms of a comprehensive strategic plan for the ICT sector on the GCC level. This visit comes in line with the decisions of the last meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee, held in Riyadh last November, during which the Kingdom of Bahrain was assigned the task of the Plan preparation.
The Kingdom of Bahrain Delegation included H.E Mohamed Bubashait, the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Bahrain and the Head of Delegation, H.E Sh. Nasser Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Deputy General Director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Bahrain, and Mr. Adel Darweesh, Head of International Relations in the Director General Office.
Praising this initiative, H.E Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of TRA, said: Developing a strategic plan for the ICT sector on the GCC level is another step to enhance the importance of cooperation and collaboration between the GCC countries in all fields. This initiative is in line with the vision and directives of our wise leadership in the UAE, which continuously plays a central and effective role in all efforts towards enhancing the integration and cohesion of the GCC, based on its firm conviction to constantly improve the quality of services provided to the people in the region, as well as the needs of decent and safe life.
H.E Al Mansoori added: The UAE has achieved major improvements in provided services in ICT sector. It has been able to reach an advanced level on Global Competitiveness, smart transformation and smart cities indexes. Choosing the UAE as a starting point for the Delegations tour is a confirmation of the leading position and important role of the UAE in ICT at the regional and global levels. We assure our full readiness to put all TRA capabilities and expertise in the Delegations service to ensure the accomplishment of its mission and the achievement of its planned objectives.
The Delegation visit schedule included holding a meeting with the TRA Management, followed by visiting several departments within TRA such as the Computer Emergency Response Team (ae CERT) Department and the mGov Center of Digital Innovation (CoDI). The members of the Delegation received a detailed explanation from the Departments and sections managers on many projects and initiatives implemented on the level of the Telecom sector and the mGovernment. Trophies and souvenirs have been exchanged.
