Mobilk - To better compete in today’s digital economy, Huawei—a leading global ICT solutions provider—has connected with hundreds of business partners and industry analysts this week to examine the latest cloud-based ICT advancements across industries that are transforming the way that businesses operate.
The discussions took center stage at this week’s Huawei Cloud Conference 2015—the first event of its kind in the region—hosted under the slogan of “Make IT Simple, Make Business Agile” at the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, UAE. During the two-day event, leaders from across the Middle East, including telecom operators and verticals in the enterprise market, engaged in a variety of best practice sessions and panel discussions to exchange ideas on how converged IT systems can become more flexible, open and easier to manage while remaining cost-effective and reliable at the same time.
During the conference, Huawei outlined its own IT strategy to help Middle East businesses stay competitive in a digital economy. The strategy is a commitment to drive telecom providers and other businesses to transform their operations through a more agile generation of Business Enabling Systems (BES) offering more digitized experiences and services by cooperating with third parties. Huawei has also launched a series of IT technology innovations at the conference including Huawei’s Business Enabling System (BES), FusionSphere 5.0 and Oceanstor V3.
“Rapid developments in the digital world are redefining information technology and changing the way that organizations operate,” notes Mr. Shi Yaohong, President of Huawei Middle East. “Nowadays Huawei is recognized by enterprises and telecom operators as a partner that develops innovative and differentiated IT solutions, and our ambitions will remain to help all our customers in the Middle East to address their evolving business needs.”
“Through a cloud-centric IT strategy and a next-generation business support system Huawei has unveiled this week, customers can wholly transform their traditional IT infrastructure, improving business agility and creating greater value for their own customers and stakeholders,” adds Yaohong.
Solutions to drive an agile business
In the current telecoms landscape, traditional business operation support systems were designed and built to support telecom services like voice, SMS, and data traffic. The complexity of integrating network, IT systems, and infrastructure coupled with high rates of business change has long been a competitive roadblock for communication service providers (CSPs).
Huawei’s new Business Enabling System (BES), its flagship solutions announced at the conference, offers pre-integrated software modules, business processes, functional capabilities, API management, analytics technology, reference architecture and delivery models to help CSPs explore, operate, and expand platform businesses across digital ecosystems. BES is based on an entirely new hierarchal architecture design based on integrated business processes adaptive to value chains, customer experience, partners, infrastructure, digital and non-digital products and services. Ultimately, BES drives more real-time, on-demand, all-online, DIY, and social (ROADS) customer experiences, delivering a holistic management platform for open partner ecosystems and agile operations management.
In addition, Huawei also introduced two new solutions for the enterprise market; its FusionSphere 5.0 open cloud platform and the Oceanstor V3 converged storage platform.
FusionSphere 5.0, an Open Stack based cloud platform, offers converged computing, storage and network resource pools, delivering increased utilization of infrastructure, improved O&M efficiency and reduced IT costs. FusionSphere 5.0 is the industrys highest-performance and largest-capacity management system. Based on a wealth of experience accumulated in the telecom field, the system offers secure and reliable carrier-class cloud platforms. It is also designed with full compatibility with mainstream virtualization platforms and hardware.
Huawei’s Oceanstor V3 is the industry’s first storage platform offering convergence of SAN & NAS, SSD & HDD, high-end, mid-range & entry-level storage, primary & backup systems as well as heterogeneous storage platforms. The platform combines a cloud-oriented architecture with a powerful new hardware and intelligent management software. OceanStor V3 is expected to bring new changes in traditional enterprise IT and provide future-oriented storage solutions. Government entities, large businesses as well as telecom operators will benefit from unprecedented advantages in storage performance, scalability and cost.
